Last updated October 20, 2026

We take a minimal approach to data. Here is exactly what the Fretboard Trainer app collects and why.

This policy applies to the Fretboard Trainer app for iPhone and iPad, listed on the App Store as Fretboard Trainer Pro (the “Application”), published by Ear & Pitch Training Studios LLC (“we” or “us”).

Your practice stays on your device

There is no account. Your progress, lessons, drills and settings are stored on your device, and you don’t need to give us your name or email address to use the Application.

What we collect

When you download and use the Application, it collects:

  • Identifiers: your device’s IP address and device identifiers, used to run the Application, validate your subscription and support analytics.
  • Purchases: your purchase history, used to validate subscriptions and unlock features.
  • Usage data: how you use the Application, such as the screens you visit, your answers during setup and your practice activity, used to improve it.
  • Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data, used to find and fix problems.
  • Advertising data: only if you allow tracking when the Application asks, your device’s advertising identifier, used to measure our advertising. If you don’t allow tracking, we don’t access it.

How we use it

We use this information to run the Application, validate your subscription, understand how the Application is used, fix problems and measure our advertising. We periodically send aggregated, anonymized data to external services to help us improve the Application.

Third-party services

The Application uses third-party services that have their own privacy policies:

When we disclose information

Beyond the services above, we only disclose information the Application collects:

  • when required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
  • when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, to investigate fraud, or to respond to a government request;
  • to trusted service providers who work on our behalf, have no independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to the rules set out in this policy.

Your choices

You can turn tracking off at any time in your device’s Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking. You can stop all collection by uninstalling the Application, which also deletes the progress stored on your device.

Data retention and deletion

We keep the information we collect for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time afterward. To ask us to delete data tied to your device, email [email protected].

Children

The Application is not directed at anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we delete it immediately. Parents or guardians who become aware that their child has provided us with personal information can contact [email protected].

Security

We use physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect the information we process and maintain.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time and will post any changes on this page. Continued use of the Application after changes take effect means you accept them.

Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as set out in this policy, now and as amended by us.
